Annoyance seeped out of their voices. He could see it burning through their shades. "What?"
"Are you fucking kidding me? You kicked up that horrific gale last night and told us to come here. Stop playing dumb and tell us what's going on."
A long bewildered pause: "I honestly have no clue what you're talking about."
"This is ridiculous. I'm getting out of here." The one furthest away from him started to get up.
"No. He's telling the truth. This guy has no idea what we're talking about."
"Are you sure? Because last time you were wrong some serious shit flew our way."
"I know a clueless bastard when I see one." They chuckled and relaxed a bit. "You mustered up some serious psychic energy to get our attention. Something is going on in that puny little brain of yours that your heart doesn't like. Maybe it's the other way around, but whatever it is, you need to deal with it."
"And you need to tell us what you know about the fire."
"You mean that rotting pile of flies I hallucinated earlier?"
"Fuck."
