Sudden showers and the economy of space

Mass Ave on the Orange Line, post storm

Clouds are a weak spot for me. I get distracted and take a bunch of pictures of these mountains of moisture, resulting in boring pictures of awesome sky. Is that such a bad thing? Normally my reaction is yes. What good is a crappy picture of something interesting? For 99% of everyone that works just fine. Recording that great thing in front of you is all that matters. As far as I'm concerned, if it's worth the film, it's worth the entire frame. The most common problem with bad pictures is a waste of space. Your image can be poorly exposed, blurry, raunchy, or boring as long as you use the space well.

Did I do that here? I don't know. This is another picture that's been sitting around for two years that I've been on the fence about. For a while I had the idea of photographing during and right after the quick storms that plowed through the city randomly for a couple of summers. They were a pain in the ass, but they added some excitement to the day. Whatever collection of images resulting from this project was going to be called Sudden Showers. It still will be if anything coalesces.
