A scientific illustration

I stand before you, directly between the sun and that tree. No I know this is all nothing new, but I never cease to be amazed by what is going on right here. A massive nuclear explosion (kind of) 92,900,000 miles away. Eight minutes and nineteen seconds after the energy released by these reactions leaves the sun, it reaches Earth, allowing us to see everything around us, and that energy can still burn us or blind us if we aren't careful. Right this second, I was the only thing between that massive ball of fire and that tree, but the light was so incredibly bright that it bounced off everything around the tree and still allowed me to see it. Don't forget how remarkable the universe is.
