Affordable apartments in old cities have a lot of character. For the purposes of this blog post, character will be defined as poorly planned or severely out of date because the building is older than your parents, and has seen too many tenants to account for easily or maintain cost-effectively. People deal with this in many different ways that tend to be inherently awesome.
Case in point. A friend's apartment. That's his knee poking up into the bottom of the frame.
