A drunk conversation worth having

     I don't like sci-fi.
     Why not?
It's just all so stupid. Spaceships and lasers? Come on. What does all that nerd crap have to do with me? I'm interested in people, not technology.
I think novels that leave out technology misrepresent life as badly as Victorians misrepresented life by leaving out sex.
That's because people obsessed with computers can't get any, so they just equate sex with their favorite things.
No. Look. Oh, can I get another beer please? Thanks. So sex is this big motivator for a lot of the decision people make. It's lurking in the back of your mind more than you care to admit, and it can influence the way you behave around other people, correct?
     Of course.
Right. Now we live in a world where the buildings we work in are built so tall they need special systems to counteract the sway caused by strong winds a thousand feet above the ground. Your car told you how to get to this bar. We'll pay for all this beer tonight by handing the waitress a piece of plastic that will automatically deduct money out of my bank account and into the bar's. And if you struck out with every lady in this bar you could still go home and explore a vast and disturbing world of smut to quench your thirst. And you're telling me technology isn't an important part of life?
I never said that. I said I just don't care.
