Ahhh fan fiction. What inspired this ingenious combination of fictional universes? We may never know. I hear both have a penchant for utilizing the science-fictional goldmine of alternate universes, but really, how can one ever presume to see into the mind of someone this devoted to franchises such as these? While remaining completely ignorant of the publishing date, one might assume the idea was spawned when Mr. Friedman saw the first X-Men movie starring Patrick Stewart.
Notice the not-so-subtle differences between the two worlds in the cover art. Riker and Data remain calm and contemplative, always cool under pressure. Never forgetting about duty and honor (except when Will sees a fine lady), only using force as the last resort.
Then you have Storm and Wolverine, immediately jumping into slashing, lighting bolting action. Theirs is a slightly more hostile universe that requires immediate defense of their lives. Even the different series' titles reflect their own nature!
Ah, to be this enthralled by so many fantastic worlds, and to be able to weave them together so masterfully! I can only assume (as my eyes did not grace its pages, even with them being thrust upon me by my brother-in-law) That Will Riker loses his cool chasing the exotic Storm, and Wolverine and Data have many small battles of the incredible metal men.
(Please excuse my lateness. I fell asleep with ease a little after 10 last night after being struck ill by allergies. I write this to you from the Commuter Rail. Expect another installment later tonight.)
