There is a bigger question here that everyone is missing. News networks covered the lack of brimstone in a sort of "the sheer lunacy of these people is the real story" way. Social media took billions of pot shots at the crazies. No one, in my lack of following any coverage whatsoever that wasn't placed directly in my line of sight, asked the question "why do people desire and end to everything?" Doomsday cults have always been around to remind us of how sane we are, and now that I think about it there is really quite an easy answer: people want to believe that they are going to be taken away from all the shit inherent in the process of living.
Well I guess that problem is solved. What's next?
